An Ordinary Day

Help me today, this ordinary day,

When there is nothing special going on,

To sing your praises as I clean the house

And vacuum with a smile upon my face;

To do the washing with a sense of joy,

Remembering how clean you’ve washed my heart.

Remind me of some friend who needs a call,

Or send some lonely person to my door.

I do not have to go to Bible Class,

I’ve no Committee Meeting to attend;

Today I’ve extra time to spend with you,

To read your Word, to meditate and pray.

I’ve time to listen, Lord, so you can speak.

How much I miss when I do all the talking!

A quiet day with you - they seldom come,

And I’m excited, Lord, with just the thought.

If everything I do is unto you

It will not be an ordinary day.
