God-Given Tasks

There is no task, dear Lord, too small

If by Thy hand ‘tis given,

Be it to speak a word of cheer

Or point a soul to heaven.

If Thou would’st send to foreign shores,

Here am I, Lord, send me;

Or by Thy will, content am I

To train one child for Thee.

Perhaps the one I stay to train

In years to come may reach

More hungry souls at home or far

Than I could ever reach.

And in the day of reckoning

‘Twill be enough to know

I helped to fashion one great tool

Because God willed it so.
