God’s Way Is Best

God’s way is always best for me,

I have not always understood

How disappointments, shattered dreams,

Could work together for my good;

But every word of God is true,

So, praising when I could not see,

I’ve walked by faith from step to step

And He has given victory.

Now, looking backward through the years

So many things I understand,

I know that had my path been plain

I had not learned to hold His hand

And trust His leading day by day;

I would be self-sufficient still

Had I not learned my helplessness,

My only peace to know His will.

Yes, looking back I know that God

Wastes no afflictions on His own,

Each one was part of His great plan,

To train, or make His power known.

And when I see Him face to face,

His hand shall wipe all tears away;

My only wonder then shall be

How I could doubt along the way.
