More Than A Friend

More than a Friend he has been to me

When the way was weary and long;

He has dried the tear of discouragement

And given the victor’s song.

More than a Refuge, a Port in storm,

My wonderful Lord has been;

I have fled to His arms when the waves tossed high

And He sheltered me safe within.

More than a Light He has truly proved,

Leading me day by day,

That I might not fall in this darkened world

Or miss His appointed way.

More than a Shepherd, this Saviour of mine,

Who laid down His life for His sheep,

Has held me close to His heart of love

So mighty to save and keep.

I have tried the Saviour and found Him true;

He never fails His own.

This heart His loving hand has made

Finds all in Him alone.
