Once For All

Once into the holy place,

Spotless, free from sin,

With His blood the sacrifice,

Jesus entered in.

Once a year the high priest came

Others’ blood to bring,

But Christ suffered once for all,

Himself sin’s offering.

All the blood of bulls and goats

Never could suffice:

Christ must offer once for all

Perfect sacrifice.

Hanging there upon the cross,

For lost men He pleaded;

“It is finished!” was His cry;

Nothing more was needed.

No more daily sacrifice:

Salvation’s work complete,

Our High Priest at God’s right hand

Forever took His seat.

Can I add to such a work

By my weak endeavor?

No! I rest secure in His

Sacrifice forever.
