The Book God Gave

Thirty-nine books God has given

To tell how He made earth and heaven,

To tell how man sinned in the garden

And how God there promised full pardon;

Stories that show us His power and His care,

His judgment of sin, and His answers to prayer,

Then He has given twenty-seven

That show us the one way to heaven,

That tell us how Christ died to save us,

And for His Son’s sake God forgave us;

How without sin Jesus walked among men,

And how for His children He’s coming again.

Sixty-six books altogether,

With words that shall live on forever;

I’ll share them with others, that they too

May know the great God that I pray to.

Let’s spread the glad tidings until all have heard

The way of salvation as shown in His Word.
