When The Battle’s Won

The road is rough and the road is long

And sometimes it’s hard to find a song.

‘Twould be easier far to give up the fight

And slip away in the dark of night.

Though everyone else may fall away,

“Com back, my child,” I hear Him say,

And He lifts me up, and He holds my hand

And then with Him I can safely stand.

I could never make it without my Lord,

Faith is my shield, and the Word my sword;

And I long to stand when the battle’s won

And hear my Saviour say, “Well done.”
