When They Had Prayed

“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken,”

The Holy Ghost with power had taken

Each humble heart that knelt there that hour

And filled it with His Almighty power.

Boldly they spoke, by no one deferred,

Everywhere, everywhere preaching the Word.

And when we have prayed, God too can shake

Our field of service for Jesus’ sake.

We may work from dawn till midnight’s hour

But there must be prayer or there is no power.

O wondrous truth, my heart awaken:

‘Twas when they had prayed, the place was shaken.
